Surmountable Chaos

July 21, 2005

So I was in London today. And in a taxi going from Green Park to Soho (yeah I was feeling lazy), and we hear on the radio that a series of security alerts have effectively shut down 4 locations and 3 tube lines. 2 of those lines would have been the ones I would use as the Piccadilly line is still out of action.

So there was a serious threat today and there has been an explosion on a bus again.

And in the meantime, the Muslims of Britain campagn published the following in all the UK’s national papers:

..Whoever kills an innocent soul.. it is as if he killed the whole of mankind, And whoever saves one, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind” [The Quran, 5:32]

Not In Our Name

The Muslim communities across Britain are united in condemning the terrible atrocities of July 7 th in London .

We are united with the rest of the country at this sad time and pray for the victims’ families and those injured. We have also lost close friends and relatives.

Islam forbids the killing of innocent people. We reject anyone who tries to link such brutal acts to the teachings of Islam.

We will not allow our faith to be hijacked by a few extremists. British Muslims should not be held responsible for the acts of a few individuals.

We are determined to work with the wider society to remove pockets of all forms of extremism in Britain .

We urge the media and politicians to maintain the values of our open society, free from prejudice, sustained by tolerance and mutual respect that cares for all.

  • We dedicate ourselves to work harder to serve the common good of British society.
  • We commit ourselves to building better partnerships with schools, businesses, government and faith communities to address racism, islamophobia and social exclusion.
  • We call on the international community to work towards a just and lasting peace in areas of conflict around the world to help eliminate the grievances that nurtures violence.

The unity of our society must be maintained and we should not allow divisions to emerge between citizens of Britain . We must remain friends, neighbours and colleagues and take Britain forward as one nation.

  1. Are Muslims getting enough exposures in media? Here in Canada, CBC showed an Imam from Toronto giving statements regarding violence and quoting Quran that how human being degrades by killing. So far most people I know said it’s nothing to do with Islam or being Muslim.

I personally thought Ken Livingstone opinions which had been telecasted from a Radio station made some sense though!

  2. Most people I know are of the same sentiment and that has come from everyone from the top down including police etc. Muslims are quickly disassociating themselves with murder. The victory for these people will be when people turn against the Muslim community and atack mosques. They will simply then use this as justification for more attacks.

  3. That was very good post. Keep it up brother…

    Blessings.

    GREETINGS FROM NEW YORK. USA.

WE JUST HEARD FROM AN IMAN WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BECOME A CHAPLAIN TO MUSLEM
FIREFIGHTERS IN NEW YORK CITY USA.

HE WAS QUOTED IN THE PRESS AS SAYING" I DON’T BELIEVE ISLAMIC’S WERE RESPONSOIBLE FOR 911. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE AL QUIDA HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.

I READ A PIECE FORM ANOTHER MOSLEM CHAP IN ENGLAND WHO WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE JULY 7 ACTS OF TERROR AGAINST MY UK BROTHERS " ALL TEENAGERS ARE REBELIOUS."
AND HE GOES ON TO TELL US " WE SHOULD CLEAN UP OUR OWN HOUSE."

SO HERE WE HAVE AN IMAN A GUY WHO SPENT SIX YEARS IN SCHOOL IN SAUDI ARABIA STUDYING TO BECOME AN IMAN –WHO COMES TO NEW YORK TO BECOME A CHAPLAIN ON THE NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPT— A DEPT WHICH LOST OVER 350 FIRE FIGHTERS TO ISLAMIC
TERRORISTES TELLING US AS WE HIRE HIM AT A SALARY OF $90,000. 00 A YEAR THE FOLOOWING " I DON’T BELIEVE ISLAMICS DID THE DEED."

AND WE HAVE A PRESS KICKING OUR — FOR MISTREATING TERRORIST PRISIONORS ON GITMO PRISON IN CUBA. THESE POOR PRISINORS EAT BETTER THAN MOST AMERICANS.

SO I SAY THIS. " IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE YOUR GUYS DID THIS DEED THEN PLEASE PACK UP YOUR TOOLS AND GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT AWAY.

GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND BLOW UP TRAINS AND WORLD TRADE CENTERS THERE. KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE THERE. OH WAIT A MINUTE WHAT AM I SAYING YOUR
" REBELLIOUS TEENAGERS ARE ALRADY DOING THAT IN BALI, AND IRIQ.

AND IN THE FUTURE WHEN YOU PRAY– PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF ALL THE INNOCENT PEOPLE YOUR "YOUNG REELLIOUS TEENANGERS ARE MURDERING."

    THANK YOU.

    JOHN W. BUGLER

PS. I HOPE I DON’T GET MY HEAD CUT OFF FOR WRITING THIS E MAIL LIKE SOME OTHER FOLKS YOIUR " REBELLIOUS TEENAGERS HAVE MURDERED RECENTLY IN NEW JERSEY.

  7. Hi John,

You know, I’m a little stuck on how to take your comments. I am pissed with people saying things like what this wannabe chaplain has said, and this other English guy who you are quoting. (Would you mind sending me the links to the sources for this info?).

But on the other hand, I would say that we remain careful when condemning whole swathes of the human population fo rthe acts of a few. It’s telling the Irish to shove it because of the IRA’s attacks in the 70s and 80s.

Also, on a certain level, I don’t believe ‘Islamics’ did it either. True Muslims would think twice about taking lives especially if they truly believed in one of the basics of the Islamic faith, i.e. the hereafter and being accountable for our actions.

When it comes to remembering people in prayers, its not a case of praying only for those individuals whose lives have been taken, but also for the guidance who believe that killing people is the way forward. When someone asked me recently what I thinks of kafirs and the kuffar, I replied, ‘We have no right to call people kafirs or kuffar. We do not know their hearts. They may submit themselves to God more willingly than we do. So before you decide to kill, think whether you can answer to God when you kill one of his servants."

    Thanks for your comments John.
