” It may be that Allah will bring about friendship between you and those whom you hold to be your enemies among them; and Allah is Powerful; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice. ” (Qur’an: 60:7-8)

So where was I on Thursday 7th July 2005. I was in bed in the morning as I was on study leave. And I get a phonecall saying that there had been a series of explosions across London. So on comes the TV and I see what I have not seen in at least 10 years. Devastation caused by explosions that us Londoners had forgotten about. I was born during a time of Strikes and Bombs. The shadow of the IRA loomed over the UK and bombs hit everywhere. I remember one being in my local SHopping Centre. But then peace reigned over London until last week. The memories came flooding back as I saw the ripped apart bus, the people crying, the sirens wailing, and men and women in fluorescent jackets running round shouting into their walkie-talkies.

This has all the hallmarks of Al-Qaeda. Whatever that means. All I know is that as a born and bred Muslim Londoner, the reality of these attacks is very close to my heart. I have an affinity with this city which I cannot explain. My introduction to Islam was in this city. I have seen this city as the seat of my faith in Europe. Yet these animals want to destroy all that we as a minority faith have worked towards. I wonder, have they ever asked themselves the basic question, “What would the Prophet do?”

Explain why we must kill innocents to the family of Shahara Akhtar Islam, a 21 year Brit-deshi, who is still missing after 3 days. I wonder if she is/was considered enough of an infidel.  Or of course we could use that wonderful phrase “collateral damage”. There will always be casualties. But my question is, when will the majority of Muslims realise that their name is being dragged through the mud by these faith hijackers and will do something about it.

I heard Alkarim Jivani saythat this is considered ‘Pure Islam’, but I’m not sure what he means by that. I have always thought of Pure Islam as being submission to the commands of Allah, and striving to earn the love of Allah. Which brings me back to the quote at the top of this entry.

Oh and Rezwan, We’re all good Alhamdulillah. I have not heard of any of my friends or familybeing affected by this.

  1. Islam has never earned a bad name till recent times. The inability of majority of Muslims to control or protest these elements (Al Qaeda et al), which are basically formed and funded by the Middle East oil money will pay them back dearly. We are already getting the hints of it.

I say again, terrorism has no religion. I don’t understand why some of the scholars are trying to validate the terms like ‘Jihad’ for these terrorists and ushering the ruins of the image of Islam. Surely we must do something about it.

  2. Hi Shappir,
Very nice to see u r ok. Our prayers are with all british people. May all be safe and happy.

Surely we all condemn such attacks and also condemn those who try to label it with some particular religion… i hate those who just after bombing, without knowing anything put label of Islamic Terrorist, Al Qaeda and blah blah… they don’t even know how many bombs blasted, but they already put up a name…huh politics and media wash !!!

Good to hear from u brother.. keep it up.

  3. heh heh…laughter does seem to be the attire of the cruel-hearted these days…quranic verses that are changed and publicised these days shed a really tarnished look on islam…..but this is what Quran really says:-

Invite all to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching.
And argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious . . .
    And if you punish,
let your punishment be proportional to the wrong that has been done to you.
But if you show patience, that is indeed the best course.
Be patient, for your patience is from God.
And do not grieve over them, or distress yourself because of their plots.
For God is with those who restrain themselves, and those who do good.
    Qur’an 16:125-128

Muslims/Al-Q members/This that-blah-blah dont realize that "And argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious" part…..alas this is the natural way of life….darkness is always overwhelming…astro-physicist/cosmologists say that Helios(the sun) would eventually die out in 53 billion years…bringing in eternal darkness…i guess the darkness is already upon us….the cause cant be totally blended onto the terror factor, but systematic oppression by AHEM! some elements of the western bureaucracy and the lack of unity and moral judgement in the current muslim world. You never see a jew abandoning another in distress…you never see another jew backstabbing you like Brutus….you never see 19 muslim noble laurets in a 100 yrs span….the weapon of education and economic constraints which we could have utilised was never taken into concern…..instead delusional youth suffering from mirage-fever go on bombing stuff….supremacy takes subtlety..not violence…when you have the remote control and the infra-red rays in your arsenal the world would bow down to you…….blowing up stuff is just proving that you have lost the bigger Jiiihad….jihadul Akbar or "jiihad against thy evil bidding"….

gotta go now….have to take my antibiotics…..stupid tonsils.

  4. i cant understand……
