Bangladesh Vs England: Day 1

May 26, 2005

Ok. So Bangladesh were 108 all out by 2pm this afternoon on the first day. People are calling for B’desh to be stripped of their Test Status, but I’m not sure how that helps. To put things into perspective, a list of the first innings ever played in England by all the Test Playing nations:

Zimbabwe 83

Pakistan 87

Bangladesh 108

South Africa 140

Australia 149

West Indies 177

India 189

New Zealand 224

Sri Lanka 491/7 dec

Interestingly, New Zealand went on to lose their match. Bangladesh have a long way to go, and maybe they did get Test status earlier than they should have done, I mean 35 tests before their first win!! But this doesn’t mean that taking off the Test circuit is a good thing. In a country with a population of around 140million, it’s only a matter of time before things start getting better.

  1. Bangladesh is progressing. Saw them playing last time when I was in desh this december/january. They better think why they haven’t given us test status earlier than thinking why they should take off the test status.

  2. Good job brother,
